Colonies spherical to oblong consists of 4-8 cells enclosed in hyaline gelatinous covering with polar nodules. Cells ellipsoid with somewhat pointed ends, about 1.5 times longer than broad. Cells with 1-3 chloroplasts, parietal and laminate without pyrenoids. Cells 10-20 μm in length and 6-12 μm in breadth. Eight celled colonies 42-55 μm in length and 28-43 μm in breadth.

Freshwater alga occurs in Lakes and Ponds.
